SCHOOL MENU | BWYDLEN YSGOL

Our school menu is developed by Torfaen. They have been developed by Catering Managers, cooks and dietitian to ensure meals are attractive, nutritionally balanced and offer great value for money. Pupils are offered a balanced hot meal-of-the-day with dessert, and fresh water available at all times. Menus have a strong focus on fresh fruit, vegetables and salad, and a full, extensive range of salad bar options are available daily as an alternative to the hot meal of the day which means there is always lots of choice for a meal the children will enjoy. Menus are planned to meet Welsh Government Standards for school lunches and contain on average around a third of pupils’ daily nutrient requirements.

Free School Meal Entitlement

Overview

If you are the parent or guardian of a child in school, they may be eligible for free school meals.

If your child is in primary school, this would include one free lunch a day. For children in secondary school, this would include daily allowance to pay for their lunch.

The information about who receives free school meals is private.

But with the rollout of Universal Primary Free School Meals (UPFSM), all children in primary school in Wales will receive free school meals by September 2024.

All children in primary school in Torfaen now receive them.

You should still apply for eFSM if you’re eligible even when the rollout of UPFSM means your child already receives free school meals.
