PUPIL DEVELOPMENT GRANT
Our School's PDG / EIG Funding
The Welsh Government is committed to raising standards in education and ensuring all learners succeed and do well in school.
Every school receives additional grant funding each year to support school improvement.
Since 2012, a separate grant has been awarded to schools to support pupils in receipt of Free School Meals. This grant, known as the Pupil Development Grant (PDG) enables schools to access additional funds to support resources to improve attainment of these groups of learners.
The three national priorities are:
Reducing the impact of poverty of pupil attainment.
Raising standards in literacy.
Raising standards in numeracy.
At Cwmffrwdoer, we make effective use of PDG. In 2021/22 our school's e-FSM (eligible for Free School Meals) population is 39%.
This year, we have allocated PDG funding for the following:
To subsidise salaries of staff with wellbeing roles and supporting pupils in need of interventions.- pupils who are FSM who need support in basic skills
To provide FSM pupils with the same opportunities and experiences as non FSM pupils.
Employment of TAs in FP.
Identified pupils to work in groups to promote and develop pupil health and wellbeing.
The grant is utilsed to overcome any additional barriers that learners from disadvantaged backgrounds face which prevent them from attaining as well as their peers.
Each school is required to draw up a plan and publish how this grant is utilised on sustainable interventions to improve the attainment of children who may be disadvantaged due to family financial circumstances or background.
