Croeso i Dosbarth Ogmore!

This term, our learning focus is People, Places, and Purpose. Through this lens, we will be exploring our local area and what it has to offer. The children will have the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of what is available in their local area, discover the different roles people play within the community and learn why these roles are important.

​

In literacy, our focused author is Julia Donaldson and we will be using stories such as The Smartest Giant in Town, The Snail and the Whale and Room on the Broom to explore themes of kindness and community. These stories will help children think about how characters support each other and the importance of working together.

​

In maths, we are building a solid foundation with teen numbers by exploring place value and number bonds. The children will also be developing their skills in addition and subtraction within 20 and much more as the term progresses!

​

Our creativity will be nurtured through portrait drawing and experimenting with different mark-making techniques, allowing the children to express themselves in new ways.

​

In PE, the focus will be on ball games and gymnastics, alongside weekly sessions with Torfaen Play to develop coordination, teamwork and physical confidence.

​

Every day, the children will participate in Welsh language activities, maths tapas sessions and Little Wandle phonics!

In science and technology, we will explore the history of Pontymoil Canal Basin and investigate the properties of materials by designing, making and testing our own boats.

We are excited for a fun and engaging term full of learning and discovery!
