Parent/carer Newsletter – 18th December 2017
Torfaen Council’s education service have launched a ‘Strive for 95!’ initiative to improve pupil attendance and reduce unauthorised absence in all Torfaen schools. From this year every pupil who achieves 95% attendance or higher during each school term will be entered into a prize draw at the end of the school year to win £50 of high street vouchers. Two winners will be randomly drawn from key stage 1, 2, 3 and 4 and presented with their vouchers at the end of the summer term.
Only a small number of parents/carets have completed the online questionnaire so far.
It only takes a few minutes to complete and we would really welcome your views on school life as part of our self evaluation and to continue to improve school. If you haven’t yet done so, please follow the link http://survey.gl-assessment.co.uk/s/GAY54/
Thank you for your patience with the rearranged Christmas concerts due to snow closure days.
So far, Foundation Phase performed their first concert this morning which was brilliant. And we look forward to a further two concerts this week. Year 3/4 have performed both concerts and made audiences very proud. The Year 5/6 concert was the first performance on Thursday after school being closed for 3 days. The children hadn’t practiced in nearly a week and there were illnesses among the cast but despite this the children did an excellent job. Hopefully the second performance will take place tomorrow afternoon.
Many thanks to all staff who have worked so hard to arrange these concerts. We hope you have enjoyed them as much as the children have enjoyed performing.
Thank you for purchasing raffle tickets. The prizes will be drawn after the last concert.
The Foundation Phase party has taken place today. KS2 children will enjoy their party on Wednesday afternoon. Children can come to school in their party clothes.
Carol Singing in the community

The whole school trip to Blackwood Miners’ Institute to see Jack And The Beanstalk is on Thursday morning. Children will return to school for lunch.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in filling shoeboxes and sending in items to be packaged up for homeless people living locally. The thoughtfulness of our children and families is much appreciated.
