Parent/carer information newsletter March 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

Cwmffrwdoer Primary School Nursery – September 2018Our new Cwmffrwdoer Primary School Nursery is due to open this September 2018.  We are very excited to be able to provide our own pre-school provision and that children will be able to begin their learning journey from age three at the school. There are places still available. Please contact the local authority for further information.

AttendanceOur attendance target is 95%. Currently attendance is 94.4%. We are just under target. Please supporting us in ensuring children attend school when they are fit and well.

All pupils who have 95% and 100% attendance since September were awarded with prizes in our attendance assembly today. Photographs are on twitter @cwmffrwdoer

Goodbye Mr HawkerWe are sorry to tell you that Mr Hawker is leaving Cwmffrwdoer and the teaching profession, for pastures new. Mr Hawker has worked at Cwmffrwdoer since 2014 in Y1 and Y5. Staff and children will miss him.

Mr Hancock will be teaching Y5 for the summer term. I’m sure you’ll join us in welcoming Mr Hancock to the team.

Easter Hamper raffleThe raffle was drawn in assembly today. The four lucky winners won hampers kindly donated by the PTA and parents. Photographs are on twitter @cwmffrwdoer

Cwmffrwdoer Easter Duck RaceWe were due to hold our Duck Races today but unfortunately the weather has meant we have had to postpone the races until after Easter.

Easter Service  Our Easter service will be on Thursday 29th a.m. in school for staff and children only due to lack of space.

End of spring term

We will finish school for the Easter break tomorrow, Thursday 29th March at 1:15pm. Bus companies have been informed to collect children at this time. We return to school on Monday 16th April.

Mufty Day

Children can wear own clothes to school tomorrow for a donation of £1 to raise money for school funds.

Competition for new class names

With our new building extension come four brand new classes in the Key Stage 2 Junior department as well as our new school nursery. We have decided to rename all of our classes for September 2018 and want children and their families to help us rename them in a whole school competition. There are 12 classes to name including nursery.  All we ask is that the classes all have a Welsh theme eg. Welsh beaches, places, castles etc.

Please complete the slip below and return to school by Monday 16th April.  Entries will be judged after Easter to rename all our classes.

National Tests

Please mark the dates of the National Tests in your calendars to avoid absences. Tests will begin on Thursday 3rd May until Wednesday 9th May.

End of Summer term

Please note the summer term will end on Friday 20th July at 1:15pm.
