This half term is already a busy one with our Estyn inspection taking place this week.
On 13th June, we have meetings for our new intake of reception pupils and for the first time ever, nursery pupils. We are delighted to welcome Mrs Caroline Baker to join our team as teacher in charge of the nursery. Mrs Baker is currently Assistant Headteacher at Brynteg Nursery School which will close this summer.
Our new nursery in September 2018 will be based in the current reception class. This means that most classes will be moving into different or new classes by September.
The extension is due for completion in July and we look forward to holding an open day to show parents, carers, governors and the community, our brand new teaching and learning space. This includes four new classrooms for KS2 pupils and a library and KS2 area. We are very excited for the extended school to be complete and to once again have our yard space and lovely grounds in use including the woodland area.
Closure of Victoria Primary School
We are welcoming a small group of pupils who are joining us from Victoria Primary School in September. Our pupils have already written letters and visited Victoria School but our building works have prevented any visits to Cwmffrwdoer. We will be welcoming them in the next few weeks with parents/carers and a transition event has been planned for some pupils in Pontypool Active Living Centre later this term.
