Parent Teacher Consultations (PTCs)
PTCs will take place next week on Monday, 18th and Tuesday, 19th February. You should have had appointments by now to meet with your children’s teacher. It is important that you attend PTCs as teachers will share the levels that your child is working at and how well they are doing in relation to individual targets.
There will be no clubs next week.
A Debrillator for Cwmffrwdoer
As you will know, Mrs Cornwell has successfully led the fundraising for a defibrillator and we are thrilled that we now have a defibrillator in Cwmffrwdoer. Mrs Cornwall supported Donna from the Welsh Hearts Charity who delivered CPR training to all our pupils throughout the school day as well as a session for staff after school.
The defibrillator is a lifesaving resource which can be accessed by the whole community when it is installed outside our main entrance.
Donna will return to school next Tuesday after school in the hall during Parent Teacher Consultations (PTCs) where she will provide defibrillator awareness and CPR training for anyone who comes along. Anyone from the community can come along, not just parents and carers. Please spread the word!
Please come along and see Donna who is volunteering her own time to make as many of our community aware of how to use the defibrillator and possibly save lives.
Heart Awareness Month – Wear red for Welsh Hearts
To show our support for the charity Welsh Hearts that provided our defibrillator and training for staff and pupils, we are asking pupils and staff to wear red this Friday for a donation of £1. All proceeds will go to Welsh Hearts who are totally reliable on fundraising.
Opening Celebration Event – Extension of Cwmffrwdoer Primary School
Last week Kirsty Williams, the AM Minister for Education in Wales officially opened the new teaching and learning extension last Thursday. The choir performed for the event and brought tears to the eyes of a few in the audience. It was a fabulous performance and a clip of them singing had thousands of views on the Torfaen Facebook page!
Children from the Pupil Equality Group, School Council and Eco-Committee met with the Minister and answered questions about life in school. We were very proud of how well they discussed school issues and their own ambitions.
Dementia Friendly School
We are very proud to tell you that we are now a Dementia Friendly School. All children were presented with a badge to celebrate that we are dementia friendly at Cwmffrwdoer Primary.
