End of Half Term Parent/Carer Newsletter 24th October 2019

Parent Teacher Consultations

Many of you came to meet teachers for consultations this week. I hope you found them informative and useful. It is important that you attend these meetings in order for all our children to get the best possible experiences at school. If you were unable to make the appointment, please contact your child’s teacher to make an alternative appointment.

Parent Governor Ballot Paper

Your child will bring a ballot paper home today for the election of two Parent Governor Representatives. You are invited to cast your vote by completing the ballot paper and returning it to school by Friday 8th November.

School Photographs

Children had their individual and family photos taken this week. Proofs will be sent home after half term for parents/carers to order photographs if required.

Families Connect Coffee Afternoon for Reception parents/carers

Thank you to those families who joined Mrs Jones, Mrs Snook and Mrs Cornwell for the first Families Connect coffee afternoon for families of reception pupils this week. We hope to see you again for the next coffee afternoon in November. The sessions will then begin in the new year.

PTA Halloween Colouring Competition

As some children didn’t receive entry forms for the Halloween Colouring Competition, it has not been judged yet to allow all pupils to enter. Forms are in classes so please remind your children to bring one home if they wish to enter. Entries must be returned after half term to be judged.

Bron Afon Community Grant Scheme

We are thrilled that the PTA have secured a grant of £1000 for the purchase of PE equipment for the school. We look forward to having brand new resources for all classes to access for indoor PE lessons.

Lateness in school

Children can arrive at school from 8:50am when there are staff on duty but they must be on site by 8:55am ready to go into school for registration at 9am. If children are not in school for registration, they are missing the start of the school day and disrupt their own and others’ learning by arriving late. Please make every effort to ensure your children are in school on time.

Parking in school car park

Some parents and carers continue to park in the school car park despite previous reminders. The car park is for staff and visitors only. The school buses drop children off in the car park and unauthorised vehicles cause a danger to pupils. Reports have been made to the Council Enforcement Team who have informed me they will be visiting school to issue tickets to those cars parked unsafely and illegally.

Aldi Stickers for School

Thank you for your support this last week in collecting vouchers from Aldi. We have already filled one poster sticker chart.

Please continue to send the stickers into school.

End of half term

School will be closed to pupils on Friday 25th October for staff to attend training.

School will reopen on Monday 4th November.

I hope all our families have a safe and fun half term!
